When does my session time start?
Your session starts when we arrive at the photo location and I start shooting.
If our location requires a drive from an entrance, parking area, or meeting point, that time doesn’t come out of your session. The time you booked is time spent photographing you.
What if the weather doesn’t cooperate?
Weather has a mind of its own. If conditions aren’t safe or comfortable for your session, we’ll work together to reschedule for the soonest date that works for both of us.
How do I book?
Send me an email or message and we’ll start there. I’ll walk you through everything you need to know.
A signed agreement and $100 retainer reserve your date. The retainer is applied toward your session fee, with the remaining balance due on the day of your session.
How many photos will we receive?
It depends on the session, but each package includes a guaranteed minimum number of professionally edited photographs.
I don’t put a hard cap on your gallery. If I have more photographs from your session that I love and believe belong in your story, they’re yours.
I’d rather give you a complete gallery than hold back a photograph simply because we reached a number.
Do you help with what to wear?
Yes. The biggest thing is that you still look and feel like yourself.
Neutrals, earthy tones, soft colors, and clothing without busy patterns tend to photograph beautifully, but where we’re shooting matters too.
I’ll send you a style guide with some ideas, and I’m always happy to help if you’re stuck between outfits.
What happens if my kids don’t cooperate?
Then we photograph that too. 😆
Kids don’t need to sit perfectly still and smile at the camera for an entire session. I give them time to warm up, move around, explore, and be themselves.
Some of my favorite photographs happen when nobody is paying attention to the camera anyway.
What if we’re running late?
Life happens. Just let me know as soon as you realize you’re running behind.
I can’t always extend a session if I have another booking afterward, but we’ll make the most of the time we have without turning the whole thing into a stressful race against the clock.
Can we bring pets?
Yes, as long as pets are allowed at the location we choose.
Bring a leash, water, and a favorite treat or toy. And don’t worry if they aren’t perfectly behaved. They’re family too.
Do you edit all of the photos?
Every photograph included in your finished gallery is individually edited in my style.
I carefully choose the photographs that best represent your session rather than delivering every frame I shoot. RAW and unedited files are not delivered.
Can we change outfits during the session?
For individuals and couples, one outfit change is welcome if we have enough time.
For families, I usually recommend sticking with one look. It keeps things moving naturally and means we’re spending our time making photographs instead of changing clothes.
How long will it take to receive my photos?
Your finished gallery will be ready within two to three weeks.
I’ll send you a link to your private online gallery where you can view and download your images.
Do you help choose the location?
Definitely.
Tell me what you’re drawn to, and we’ll figure it out together. Maybe you want big scenery and open space. Maybe you’d rather have something quiet and tucked away. Or maybe there’s already a place that means something to you.
I’m currently based in the Big Bend region and know this area well, but I photograph beyond it too. Wherever we’re shooting, we’ll choose a location that makes sense for you and the photographs we’re creating.
How many people can be included in a family session?
Regular family sessions are designed for immediate family.
If you’re bringing grandparents, siblings, cousins, multiple families, or the whole crew, take a look at my Family Reunions + Small Groups option or reach out and I’ll help you figure out what makes the most sense.
Do you offer mini sessions?
Occasionally.
When I offer mini-session days, they’re shorter sessions held at a specific location on specific dates. I’ll announce them on my social media when they’re available.
Do we need a permit?
It depends on where we’re photographing.
Some parks, public lands, private properties, and other locations have their own photography rules, entrance fees, or permit requirements.
If something additional is required for the location we’ve chosen, I’ll let you know while we’re planning so there aren’t any surprises.
Can we bring props or something meaningful to us?
Please do, especially if it actually means something to you.
A family heirloom, an old photograph, a blanket you’ve had forever, your kid’s favorite stuffed animal, or something connected to this particular season of your life can make the photographs more personal.
You don’t need to bring something just for the sake of having a prop, though.
What time of day is best for photos?
Usually early morning or the last couple of hours before sunset, when the light is softer.
But the right time also depends on the location, season, weather, and kind of photographs we’re making. We’ll figure that out together when we plan your session.
Do you travel?
Yes.
Big Bend is home right now, but my photography isn’t limited to it.
For sessions outside my local area, travel fees may apply depending on the distance and location. If you have somewhere in mind, send it my way and I’ll let you know what’s possible.
What if we need to reschedule?
Life happens.
If you need to move your session, let me know as soon as possible. Retainers are non-refundable, but with at least 72 hours’ notice, your retainer can be transferred to another available date within the timeframe outlined in your agreement.
If weather or unsafe conditions cause us to reschedule, we’ll work together to find another date.
